Exciting additions to a very special safari lodge...
Royal Malewane was built to suit its surroundings, the style and aesthetic a tribute to this unique region. A classic style where luxury and nature exist in total harmony.
Liz and Phil Biden have been continuously improving the guest experience at Royal Malewane since it first opened in 1999 and we’re delighted to share news of our latest refurbishment at Royal Malewane which includes some exciting upgrades and additions.
While we have undertaken a lot of structural work, it was critical to Liz that we did not lose the character of the lodge which our wonderful guests have enjoyed so much over the years.
While we love implementing new, exciting ideas and stylish additions to our properties, it’s crucial that the basics are done right – all the behind the scenes work that should go unnoticed. To ensure the structural integrity of the lodge the following work is underway:
While the behind the scenes structural work has been taking place, Liz couldn’t help but wave her stylish wand over the lodge, providing some beautiful new and colourful additions to the décor of Royal Malewane.
As always, Liz’s Style and Design is utterly unique, her remarkable vision and eye for detail creating incredible spaces for genuine and warm hospitality.
We’re extremely excited about the addition of the bush bar at the main lodge. The bush bar is going to be a magnificent area in which guests can relax and mingle over a drink or two while marveling at the surrounding wildlife and recounting tales of the day’s adventures.
The bush bar is being built on the site of the existing boma, right on the water’s edge. It will showcase our fabulous collection of gins and over 50 whiskies. Guests will also be able to dine in this unique space which will blend into the natural environment much like a traditional hide around a watering hole. Grass will run up to the curved wall visible in the picture below and continue over the rooftop. This tranquil addition will pay homage to the history of Royal Malewane.
We have also upgraded our Kosher Kitchen and expanded the space ensuring that we can prepare fresh and delicious meals using the finest kosher ingredients.
Our team has been trained to understand the subtleties of kosher requirements and the kitchen has been fitted with all the necessary equipment.
The refurbishment is giving a lovely lift to the whole lodge and the team spirit throughout the project has been quite remarkable with everyone at the lodge lending a helping hand. All the works will be completed in April 2018 and we look forward to sharing new images of the completed refurbishment with you in May.
