At The Royal Portfolio we believe passionately in investing in Africa. Our Purpose & Values dictate that we uplift local communities, promote conservation and protect the environment.

There are two aspects to this business ethos – our internal, daily operations and our external impact on the broader community. In order to guide these projects and processes, we have implemented the Three Crowns framework.

Sustainable tourism is about ensuring a long-term future for African tourism based on partnership and community benefit. Revenue from tourism should be used to ensure sustainability of the industry, to create jobs and to conserve Africa’s precious wildlife and spectacular landscapes for generations to come.

While The Royal Portfolio Foundation focuses on specific fundraising initiatives for various property specific projects, The Royal Portfolio’s Three Crowns Framework addresses issues around each property’s internal operations and how these impact our external environments.

A Message From Liz Biden

South Africa's international borders are now open for leisure travel from medium and low-risk countries and for business travel from high-risk countries with a valid business travel permit. The list of high-risk countries will be updated every two weeks. Travellers require a certified, negative test result taken within 72 hours from the time of departure. Travel insurance is mandatory.

Birkenhead House, La Residence and Royal Malewane are all open and we look forward to welcoming international visitors back to our beautiful country. The Silo Hotel will reopen on Monday 23 November 2020.

We have taken every precaution to keep our guests and staff safe. Our hotels and lodges comply with the strictest TBCSA and WHO hygiene protocols and provide ample space for social distancing. Please visit the South African government's dedicated Covid-19 portal for the latest South African information.

The Royal Portfolio Foundation remains committed to supporting numerous conservation and community projects including our counter-poaching initiatives and various Covid-19 Relief Feeding Schemes.

We look forward to welcoming our wonderful guests from near and far.

Our Reservations Team is available to assist with any enquiries Mon – Fri | 8am to 5pm (GMT +2).
