The Silo Spa offers some of the most exclusive and indulgent spa treatments available in South Africa. The ‘Silo Signature Golden Millet Facial’ offers guests a gentle nod towards the building’s original use as a grain silo, while the ‘Silo Signature Golden Millet Ritual’ and ’24 Carat Luminescence Ritual’ incorporate the anti-oxidant and antimicrobial effects of gold on the skin.
Specialty service in this serene space is of utmost importance, so we took a moment to speak to Spa Manager and Head Therapist Asiya Ebrahim as she subsumes her in-depth knowledge into this unique spa that is very much focused on consultation and bespoke beauty therapies.
Before joining the The Silo Hotel you worked at The Westin for 7 years. You obviously have a lot of experience as a spa manager, what is your philosophy towards creating a successful spa?
Finding the right team that can work together to create the best experience for guests is essential. Therapists that are passionate about the industry and dynamic will ultimately offer guests the most holistic experience. At the end of the day people go back to people, irrespective of the setting. Perfect service and treatments create a lasting impression.
What makes The Silo Spa unique?
We have sourced some of the most unique and highest quality products from around the world and worked closely with the product houses to create bespoke services that are only available at The Silo Hotel. While some of our treatments incorporate innovative techniques, we also want to offer an authentic, traditional spa experience. Guests will have the option to have a massage with a state-of-the-art energy-lift machine or using traditional Swedish techniques.

Tell us about some of your favourite treatments?
The WOW triple peel which uses LING products is definitely a favourite. I was introduced to this brand by Liz Biden and have been obsessed with it ever since. I love the focus on healthy, hydrated skin. As an aesthetician myself I am a big believer in a good exfoliation, and this facial has LING’s signature triple exfoliation. Three non-invasive exfoliators are used to prepare the skin for extractions, followed by the “Solve” portion of the treatment which aids in the treatment of specific skin conditions.
The 24 Carat Luminescence treatment is another favourite – this is the epitome of luxury. It begins with an indulgent body polish to slough off dead skin, and an application of the Divine body butter leaving the body hydrated and glowing. A highly active and anti-aging facial is then applied. This uses a 24 carat gold mask to brighten the complexion and improves the appearance of blemishes. This is probably our most indulgent and relaxing treatment, while still being highly effective.
What products are you using at The Silo Spa?
Our signature treatments are performed with Carol Joy and Black Pearl. Facials use LING and QMS. For body treatments we have gone with a beautiful local brand, Terre D’Afrique, which is organic and fairtrade, in keeping with The Royal Portfolio’s values.
Can hotel guests enjoy treatments in their rooms or up on the roof?
Absolutely! The Penthouse has a dedicated private treatment room, but all hotel guests can request a treatment in the comfort of their suites. We also offer massages on the Sky Terrace to hotel guests, the panoramic views of the city and table mountain create a truly unique wellness experience.
Do you offer any Spa packages or specials?
We have carefully crafted a number of spa packages that allow guests the opportunity to try different combinations of the more popular treatments. Some of these include dining options for a more complete experience. We are also able to create bespoke packages for groups and special events.
