South Africa's exquisite scenery showcased through our favourite drone shots.

The Royal Portfolio offers an opportunity for travellers to experience the very best of South Africa. Cape Town’s iconic landmarks, Franschhoek’s wondrous winelands, the dramatic coastline of Hermanus, as well as the raw beauty of the Kruger National Park’s untamed wilderness, are undoubtedly four of South Africa’s quintessential destinations for international guests.

We’ve chosen a handful of our favourite images that really showcase The Royal Portfolio hotels – from above.

The Silo Hotel is situated in the heart of Cape Town, the V&A Waterfront, a meeting point of industry, culture, tourism, and natural beauty. Nestled beneath Table Mountain, and flanked by the beautiful Atlantic coastline, Cape Town’s spectacular scenes are world renowned, and it’s clear to see why.

Franschhoek (‘French Corner’ in Dutch) is a picturesque village where the laid back café culture has a distinctly French charm. Full of character and known as South Africa’s culinary capital, Franschhoek is distinguished by its fine colonial architecture, numerous gourmet restaurants, art galleries and curio shops.

La Residence is surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards, olive groves and plum orchards, with a spectacular mountain backdrop and breath-taking views of the undulating countryside

Hermanus, a beautiful two hour drive up the east coast from Cape Town, is one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world. Aside from being the best place to view whales on the planet, Hermanus is renowned for its wild beauty, artisanal food producers and its proximity to the Hemel-en-Aarde wine route.

Birkenhead House is positioned directly above two popular swimming beaches in Hermanus, and offers a fantastic vantage point for guests to spot breaching whales. This quaint coastal town offers endless experiences and houses one of the world’s six floral kingdoms – a must see for visitors wishing to explore South Africa’s sublime seaside towns.

A trip to South Africa would not be complete without experiencing the wild beauty and excitement of an African safari. The Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa and one of the world’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. This untamed, exquisite environment is home to the Big 5 and is the perfect safari destination. Royal Malewane offers unsurpassed wildlife experiences made possible by the most qualified guiding team in Africa.

The Farmstead at Royal Malewane, pictured below, is the latest addition to Royal Malewane and will open 1 May 2019.

It’s no wonder that South Africa continues to feature as one of the most beautiful countries in the world. The diversity of landscapes and their accompanying natural beauty offer something  for everyone. The Royal Itinerary is the ideal way to experience each of The Royal Portfolio’s in one magnificent 10 day itinerary.
