While our hotels have been closed due to the South African Government’s lockdown regulations, we have been carefully planning protocols and procedures that will protect our guests and staff in preparation for the reopening of our hotels. We have also been using the time to engage with and train staff and to renovate and upgrade our properties. The Royal Portfolio Foundation has continued to support critical community and conservation projects including counter-poaching initiatives at Royal Malewane and various Covid-19 Relief Feeding Schemes which need our help now more than ever.

South Africa’s 5 level risk-adjusted approach to combat Covid-19 means that reopening dates for international tourism have not yet been defined. The industry continues to have productive dialogue with government to address risks associated with the sector in order to welcome back local and international travel as soon as possible. Limited Social Contact

South Africa is a beautiful destination with vast open spaces and great natural beauty. The Royal Portfolio’s properties are located in iconic South African destinations and each offers the highest levels of privacy, security, hygiene and service.

Whether you are seeking the peace and remoteness of the African bush at Royal Malewane, the Champagne air of the seaside at Birkenhead House, a stroll through the gardens and vineyards of La Residence or a sanctuary in the centre of Cape Town at The Silo Hotel, you can rest assured that we have taken every precaution to protect our guests and our staff as we continue to ‘Give Our Guests A Complete Experience And A Perfect Stay’.

Preventive Actions Taken

Each of our properties adheres to the strictest hospitality protocols of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa as well as World Health Organisation recommendations. We have taken extensive additional measures to ensure complete peace of mind for our guests by minimising human contact and enforcing social distancing across our operations.

Through The Royal Itinerary we are able to ensure our guests’ safety and wellness from the moment they touch down in South Africa until they leave our shores. Each of our properties (with the exception of Birkenhead House) offers private villa options in self-contained units which are ideal for families and groups of friends. Royal Malewane has three private safari villa options while La Residence offers exclusive Vineyard Suites.

South Africa has one of the best private healthcare systems in the world with an extensive network of private doctors, specialists and clinics.

Each of our properties is different and each has implemented unique health and safety protocols to augment our already stringent standards.

A Message From Liz Biden

Our thoughts are with those around the world battling the direct and indirect effects of the Covid-19 outbreak.

South Africa's borders remain closed. The Silo Hotel opening date has yet to be set. We have taken every precaution to keep our guests and staff safe. Our hotels and lodges comply with the strictest TBCSA and WHO hygiene protocols and provide ample space for social distancing.

Through these challenging times, The Royal Portfolio Foundation remains committed to supporting numerous conservation and community projects including our counter-poaching initiatives and various Covid-19 Relief Feeding Schemes.

Our Reservations Team is available to assist with enquiries Mon – Fri | 8am to 5pm (GMT +2).

Thank you to our guests, staff, suppliers and business partners for your understanding and incredible support as we work together to get through this.
